Music to my ears

The kids and I are visiting my family, and cousin Emperor K (who is now five years old--where does the time go???) brought out two harmonicas during a playdate. Otter had quite a time figuring out how to make a harmonica make any noise, despite all our attempts at demonstration and explanation, until I suggested he make an owl noise into the harmonica. Success!

He promptly fell in love with the "carmodica", as he calls it.

So two days later he has his own harmonica (courtesy of Grammy M) , which he has played to his dad over the phone. I am looking forward to the five hour drive home with the harmonica--truly. Until you've experienced mile after mile of "Mama, tell me a story", you don't know how good a self-occupied child with a 'carmodica' can sound.
